Sophie This adorable 3 year old beagle was in a shelter when she was adopted by a family. When they took her to be spayed, they discovered she had diabetes and would need a little insulin shot twice a day. So poor Sophie was about to be taken back to the shelter for euthanasia when SFTH stepped in.

Her foster mom said the following... 'She is super sweet, and very loving. She doesn’t weigh much, about 20 lbs, and until now, hasn't had much training. She is a very happy girl, and if she’s awake, will almost always have a smile on her face. She looks at you with these eyes that say I want to sit next to you and enjoy your company. She can’t jump very high, so unless you pick her up to get on the bed, she’s fine sleeping in her doggie bed, in fact, she prefers it. At first, she will follow you everywhere. She's pretty good on the leash and doesn’t pull much. She seems to be pretty smart, too. She figured out the doggy door fairly quickly. She now knows how to sit. If I leave the apartment, she will bark for a minute, but will then stop and take a nap. She is not destructive at all. She is potty trained, but with any new dog, you will need to watch her for the first few days, so that she knows where she can and can’t go. She doesn’t flinch when I give her her diabetes shot. She gets along with every human being. She also gets along with most dogs. I say most, because she doesn’t like rambunctious dogs that get in her face. She is perfectly fine with less hyper dogs. She requires love and attention, and will provide the same in return. And although Sophie has diabetes, it doesn't slow her down a bit! She would do best in a family where there is plenty of love to go around!'
