Success: Shadow is saved

Shadow, who is 12 years old but looks and behaves like a five year old, was also pulled from the Brooklyn ACC euthanasia list before Christmas. Look at him now in his new home. He is so precious and loved.

Daisy Mae comes to the big city

Daisy Mae

Hi all,

Here is Katie, now known as Daisy Mae, an appropriate named for such a beautiful southern girl. She went to her new home on Friday and is doing great. She was adopted by Ruth Manson, a good friend and supporter of Stray from the Heart.

Daisy Mae
Daisy Mae came from a kill-shelter in South Carolina, where she faced certain death in a gas chamber with other dogs. Because of what you do as a SFTH Volunteer, Beth and I are able to focus on the big task of saving good dogs.

Thank you for your continued support,

Hugs,

Beth and Toni

LETTER FROM HOME:

This is DAISY MAE, a beautiful 6 month old southern belle from South Carolina. I was lucky enough to find her with the help of Beth from Stray From the Heart in NYC. She is gentle, smart, loving, responsive and especially good with children and other animals. After only two days she is learning her commands and is virtually house broken. Daisy is mostly Lab and sweet as sugar. She is looking forward to meeting you soon.

xxxxx

Ruth

Adopt a stray dog

“Dogs have given us their absolute all. We are the center of their universe. We are the focus of their love and faith and trust. They serve us in return for scraps. It is without a doubt the best deal man has ever made. “

Dino from Ecuador — His first bark!

Dino from Ecuador

LETTER FROM HOME:

I just wanted to take this time to give you an update on our sweet boy Dino… It has taken time (which was to be expected), but Dino opens up more and more every day. After I spoke with you a couple of weeks ago, worried that Dino didn’t have a voice, he barked the very next day! My husband was outside while Dino and I sat on the living room couch. Oliver (hubby) decided to peek through the window at us. Dino was not expecting this (nor I) and he growled and barked at him. We were soooo proud of him! It is so pleasant to have a dog that is not a yapper, but it is quite comforting to know that he is a protector.

Dino and Bridget are two peas in a pod. They love to hike, sleep and eat together. They give each other kisses in the morning and Bridget loves to nip at his muzzle to get him to play. My husband and I are thrilled to see Dino become a part of our family each and every day. He loves a nice belly rub…actually he loves any contact whatsoever. If you stop petting him, he nudges your hand and makes you pet him. He also will put his paw on your lap or face if he wants to be extra cute! I think his favorite thing to do though is to follow me EVERYWHERE I go. He is my adorable shadow:)

Dino from Ecuador

Dino loves to ride in the car. He knows that this means we are going for a nice hike. I can’t wait until Thanksgiving when we drive to Michigan. Everyone is excited to meet our new baby boy. I recently took Dino and Bridget to Barktoberfest in Putnam Valley and was relieved to know that Dino is good with new dogs, adults and children. Dino is still shy, don’t get me wrong, but he is never ever agressive. I am completely confident with Dino around children which is a relief since we plan on having some ourselves someday. The kids and adults thought Dino had the perfect temperament (Bridget too). He just sat there and let everyone pet him. I guess he didn’t have much to complain about.

Dino from Ecuador

Anyway, thank you for bringing Dino into our lives. He makes us smile every day:) I don’t know what we would do without him. We no longer have our apartment in the city, so you must come visit us in the country one day.

Sincerely,

Pyul, Oliver & Bridget

Lulu finds a home

Lulu finds a homeLETTER FROM HOME:

Just wanted to give you an update on Lulu. She is doing very well. I took her to the vet a couple of weeks after she came home and discovered that she had a couple of tumors near her privates. She had to undergo surgery to have them removed. But she recovered well and has been healthy and happy since.

She has been a wonderful companion and worked out to be the greatest friend! She is so good and obedient. She doesnt really get along well with other dogs, but is great with people and children.

I wanted to thank you for bringing my little Lulu and I together. I can’t imagine life without her :)

Success: Chubby is Chubby no more

Sandy, now Chubby, from the ACCs death rowWe pulled Sandy, now Chubby, from the ACC’s death row. She was a very sick girl carrying over 100 stones in her bladder and weighing 30 lbs (15 lbs over weigh). She was brought to the shelter by a neglectful family who dumped her there because they did not want to pay for her life-saving surgery, which lasted 5 hours. Here she is now in her new home, but we still have a huge vet bill to pay. Any contribution will help.

Warm Regards,

Toni Bodon

LETTER FROM HOME:

Welcome home to our new dog, Chubby! She’s a Bichon Frise + Poodle mix that we adopted from an animal shelter, Stray from the Heart. She’s the best, sweetest dog!

Adopt a stray dog

“Nobody can fully understand the meaning of love unless he’s owned a dog. A dog can show you more honest affection with a flick of his tail than a man can gather through a lifetime of handshakes.

Tiberius Perfectus

Tiberius the pitbull with lots of love

Can you believe I just found this among my 1000 unread emails!!! Now this is a poster shot! Will and Chris were just fostering Tiberius…and look what happened??? ADOPTION! (My favorite word.)

Thank you so much to both of you for taking a chance on this wonderful boy. He stole my heart too!

Hugs,
Beth

LETTER FROM HOME:

I just wanted to check in and say hello and let you know that we have fallen head over heels in love with Tiberius. He really is the sweetest doggie ever and can never spend enough time cuddling in one of our laps. He’s certainly taking up a bit more of my time these days because I’m trying to give him lots of exercise…

Hope all is well with you,
Will
